  • 1. Short Description

    The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is a standardized test for measuring aptitude to succeed academically in graduate business studies. Business schools commonly use the test as one of many selection criteria for admission into an MBA program. As of 2006, the fee to take the test is US $250 worldwide. It was developed and is administered by the Educational Testing Service.The GMAT exam measures basic verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills that the canidate has developed over a long period of time in your education and work.

    The GMAT exam consists of three main parts, the Analytical Writing Assessment, the Quantitative section, and the Verbal section. The GMAT exam begins like GRE exam with the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA). The AWA consists of two separate writing tasks - Analysis of an Issue and Analysis of an Argument. Candidate is allowed 30 minutes to complete each one. Quantitative Section contains 37 multiple-choice questions of two question types - Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving. Verbal Section contains 41 multiple choice questions of three question types - Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction. Candidate is allowed a maximum of 75 minutes to complete the entire section.

  • 3. Registration and Fees

    The GMAT is offered as a computer-based test in the U.S., Canada, and many other countries. Paper based version of this exam is not available (compare to GRE exam). You may check exam availability on-line.

    To take the GMAT exam, candidate must first select a test center. Each test center operates on its own schedule and can accommodate varying numbers of test takers throughout the day. GMAT exam is held in the same test centers that accomodate GRE Candidates.

    Candidates may register for computer-based exam using: Online Registration (Recommended) or Regular Mail or FAX Registration. Candidates may pay exam fee by Credit Card.

    The fee to take the test is US $250. The Candidate will incur taxes ( tax rates) when he  schedules an exam in certain countries.

    Candidate will receive a US$80 refund when he cancels her test appointment more than seven full calendar days in advance of the date and time of the appointment.

    There is a US$50 fee to reschedule the date, time, or location of a GMAT exam appointment if you reschedule your appointment at least seven full calendar days between the date and time you reschedule and the date and time of your original appointment. If you reschedule within seven full calendar days of your appointment date and time, you will be charged the full registration amount.

  • 4. Deadlines

    Computer-Based General Test
    The GMAT is given year-round at computer-based test centers in the U.S., Canada, and many other countries.
    Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
    Candidate may take the GMAT only once every 31 calendar days , and no more than five times within any 12-month period. This applies even if candidate canceled her scores on a test taken previously. If you score an 800 on the exam, you will be prohibited from testing for five years from your exam date.

    After a second optional ten-minute break, candidate begins the Verbal Section of the GMAT exam. This section contains 41 multiple choice questions of three question types - Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction. Candidate is allowed a maximum of 75 minutes to complete the entire section.
